Noctalium está diseñada como un sitio de información sobre vampiros reales y vampirismo, surgió como una continuación natural del blog Noticias de la Comunidad de Vampiros pero en un formato con más posibilidades. Decidí hacerla porque soy feliz compartiendo lo que hago, y además para que otros vampiros reales sepan que no están solos ni están locos, simplemente somos un tanto diferentes en algunos aspectos al promedio de las personas, algo que puede sucederle a mucha gente por diferentes razones. Mi objetivo es desmitificar la condición de vampiro real separándola de las ideas populares sobre el vampiro de mitos y leyendas, erróneamente aplicadas al vampirismo real. Separar mito de realidad, brindar buena información sobre el tema y contribuir al debate y la reflexión, son cosas muy necesarias en nuestra comunidad hoy en día.

Noctalium es también un sitio realizado con un sentido comunitario, por eso hay otras secciones donde distintos miembros de la comunidad realizan sus aportes, a través de artículos, entrevistas, colaboración para realizar FAQs, por dar algunos ejemplos. Mi concepto de comunidad no comprende solo a vampiros reales, sino también a otherkins, teriántropos, starseeds, walk-ins, y grupos similares. Creo que tenemos muchos puntos en común y que trabajando juntos podemos crecer todos de una mejor manera.

Sobre Mí

Soy un hombre, un vampiro real. Me gusta mucho leer y escribir, trabajar con otros miembros de la comunidad e investigar sobre vampiros reales y vampirismo, otherkin, therian, y temas semejantes. Trabajo con otros grupos y personas en diferentes proyectos comunitarios, mayormente personas de habla hispana e inglesa. Soy miembro desde Febrero del 2011 de Voices of the Vampire Community (VVC), traducido al castellano Voces de la Comunidad de Vampiros, un grupo de vampiros reales formado por diversos miembros de la comunidad que comparten el interés de trabajar en beneficio de todos.

Sobre el Ankh Noctalium

Fue realizada en base a un dibujo hecho a mano, escaneado y tratado con diversos programas de diseño. Como no sabía nada de esos programas me limité a probarlo todo, ya saben, ensayo y error. Jugué todo lo que pude con todos los elementos, hasta que encontré un resultado que me gustó. Por supuesto, podría mentirles y decirles que fue un cuidadosamente organizado trabajo profesional, pero mejor digo la verdad.

Costó mucho trabajo, me tomó más de dos meses averiguar cómo podía separar el dibujo del fondo usando un programa de diseño. Cada vez que añadía un efecto al ankh también se lo añadía al fondo. ¿Le ponía un bonito color verde? Fantástico, quedaba un ankh verde sobre un fondo igualmente verde… Finalmente, y habiendo insultado a todos los hipotéticos familiares de todos los ordenadores del mundo (y de los diseñadores de programas de diseño gráfico, que tienen familiares nada hipotéticos y por lo tanto muy insultables) logré lo que quería.

Para hacer un ankh un tanto distinta y ejemplificar una comunidad viva, abierta y receptiva, decidí abrir la forma cerrada que todo ankh tiene en su parte superior; además hice el diseño basándome en las estrellas de mar. Quise hacer algo orgánico, biológico, vivo y vital. ¿Alguna vez vieron un documental con estrellas de mar? Tienen una gran paciencia para desplazarse de un lado a otro ya que no tienen velocidad… digamos que tienen unos mil kilos de perseverancia por cada centímetro que recorren, la misma que yo tuve para diseñar el ankh.

Pon una estrella de mar a correr los 100 metros olímpicos y probablemente ganará a un gusano viejo y cansado (y maniatado y sedado) que esté por allí en ese momento, pero ponla sobre tu espalda para que te dé un buen masaje… Y disfrutarás por mucho tiempo. Mis congratulaciones a todas las estrellas de mar del mundo por su perseverancia, que el ankh Noctalium les sirva de justo homenaje… Ya saben, persevera y (luego de maldecir a todos los familiares de ordenadores y diseñadores de programas de diseño) triunfarás. Cuento esta breve historia de la vida del ankh Noctalium porque es un buen ejemplo de que una persona sin conocimiento alguno puede hacer muchas cosas si se lo propone, y para eso solo hace falta iniciativa. (Y un dudoso gusto por los animales marinos…)

Y la nueva Ankh Noctalium fue hecha para WordPress, no es más que el ankh anterior con un nuevo tratamiento.

Sobre la Estrella Elenari

Nada de estrellas de mar aquí. Solo la estrella de Elenari que vi en tantos sitios otherkin al realizar los primeros artículos para la sección otherkin de Noctalium, y el D-TOT. También se utilizó un dibujo base hecho a mano, escaneado y luego modificado con programas de diseño. Como ya había desperdiciado un montón de paciencia en el ankh Noctalium, no fue necesario insultar tanto (ni a tanta gente) y fue mucho más fácil.

Al comienzo el dibujo tenía un añadido en el centro y en los espacios entre cada punta, pero finalmente decidí simplificar el diseño pues lo esencial sigue siendo una estrella de siete puntas. Aun así estoy pensando en cambiarla por un diseño mejor ya que este no me convence mucho. Quizás lo haga…

Y finalmente lo hice.

About the Page

Noctalium is designed as an information site about real vampires and vampirism, emerged as a natural continuation of Noticias de la Comunidad de Vampiros blog but in a format with more possibilities. I decided to made it because I’m happy sharing what I do, and also for other real vampires knows they are not alone and are not crazy, we are just a little different in some aspects to the average person, something that can happen to many people for different reasons. My objective is to demystify the real vampire condition separating it from popular ideas related to the vampire from myths and legends, mistakenly applied to real vampirism. To separate myth from reality, providing good information on the topic and contributing to debate and reflection, these are very necessary things in our community nowadays.

Noctalium is also a site made with a sense of community, that´s why there are other sections where different community members make their contributions through articles, interviews, collaboration for FAQs articles, for give some examples. My concept of community includes not only real vampires but also otherkins, therianthropes, starseeds, walk-ins, and similar groups. I think we have much in common and working together we can grow all in a better way.

About Me

I am a man, a real vampire. I enjoy reading and writing, working with other community members and investigating about real vampires and vampirism, otherkin, therian, and similar topics. I work with other groups and individuals in various community projects, mostly with Spanish and English speaking persons. I am a member of Voices of the Vampire Community (VVC) since February 2011, translated to Spanish Voces de la Comunidad de Vampiros, a real vampires group formed by several community members who share the interest in working for the benefit of all.

About Noctalium´s Ankh

Was made it based on a drawing done by hand, scanned, and treated with various design programs. Not knowing anything about these programs I just tried everything, you know, test and error. I played everything I could with all the elements, until I found a result that I liked. Of course, I could lie and say it was a carefully organized professional work, but better I say the truth.

It cost a lot of work, took me more than two months to verify how it could be separate the drawing from the background using a design program. Whenever it was adding an effect to the ankh also it was added to the background. Was it putting a nice green color? Fantastic, was remaining a green ankh on an equally green background… Finally, and having insulted all the hypothetical relatives of all computers in the world (and the relatives of all the graphic programs designers, who are not hypothetical and therefore very able to insulting) I achieved what I wanted.

To make a somewhat different ankh and exemplify a living, opened and receptive community, I decided to open the closed form that all ankh have on it´s top, in addition I did the design basing on the starfishes. I wanted to make something organic, biological, alive and vital. Have you ever seen a documentary with starfishes? They have a great patience to move from a place to another one since they do not have a great speed… let’s say that they have approximately thousand kilograms of perseverance per every centimeter that they cross, the same one that I had to design the ankh.

Put a starfish to run the 100 meters Olympic and probably will win to an old tired worm (tied down and sedated) that is there in this moment, but put it on your back to give you a massage… And you will enjoy for a long time. My congratulations to all the starfishes in the world for their perseverance, I wish the ankh Noctalium serves to them as right tribute… You know, persevere and (after cursing all the relatives of computers and graphic programs designers) you will triumph. I tell this brief story of Noctalium ankh life, because it is a good example of which a person without any knowledge can do many things if he/she tries, and it only takes initiative. (And a doubtful taste for marine animals…)

And the new Noctalium´s Ankh was made for WordPress, is just the old ankh with a new treatment.

About the Elenari Star

No starfishes here. Only the Elenari star that I saw in many otherkin sites when realizing the first articles for Noctaliumotherkin section, and the D-TOT. Also a basic handmade drawing was used, scanned and then modified with design programs. As I had wasted a lot of patience in Noctalium ankh, was not necessary to insult so much (and to many people) and was much easier.

In the begining the picture had an addition in the center and in the spaces between each end, but finally I decided to simplify the design as essential remains like a seven-pointed star. Even so I am thinking about changing it by a better design since this one does not convince me very much. Probably I will do it…

And finally I did.
