Sometime ago I was discussing with other community members about how to define this so diverse group of people and what things keep us together… What is the “Real Vampires Community”? It really exist or we call it with this name because is a habit or a need? Is stronger the diversity that sometimes brings us together or is stronger the differences that diversity brings with it? On the occasion of the discussion that began on a specific topic and led to many others, and due to the original contribution of a community member (I wish I had an idea so simple and remarkable), I began to refer to the real vampires community as the We Are Here Land (La Tierra de Estamos Aquí in Spanish), a place where reigns the same diversity that produce agreements, differences, conflicts and solutions. To highlight what is the main attribute of our community I developed this article, which is simply a list of the various existent real vampire and/or real vampirism definitions.
The purpose of the list is not to judge whether one or another definition is the correct, is not made to make value judgments but to make visible the diversity of a group which beyond differences has also many things to share. This constantly increasing list of definitions is not meant for legislate but to value the contribution to the community of all people. Thank you very much to all the list contributors for their authorizations for include definitions. All those who consider themselves as We Are Here Land inhabitants can contribute too with their own definition, always citing author/s and if it´s possible original source, and sending it to:
And here we go, towards the vast We Are Here Land…

Definition: A vampire is essentially an energy feeder or blood drinker that may display various levels of psychic ability. While the causality, interpretation, and sometimes even the “proper” spelling of vampirism are debated, vampires are generally individuals who cannot adequately sustain their own physical, mental, or spiritual well-being without the taking of blood or vital life force energy from other sources; often human. Without feeding the vampire will become lethargic, sickly, depressed, and often go through physical suffering or discomfort. Vampires often display signs of empathy, sense emotions, perceive auras, and are generally psychically aware of the world around them. To a degree, the specifics of vampirism manifest differently on an individual basis and these nuances sometimes insulate the confusion in defining the vampiric range of ability and experience. The alternate spelling of “Vampyre” is sometimes used depending on the path from which one approaches vampirism. There are numerous vampiric Paths, Houses, Orders, Associations, and Groups within the vampire community that exist both online and offline; often each having their own unique philosophies, teachings, ethical tenets, and protocols.

Definition: Vampirism is a physical condition wherein the afflicted person’s body does not either produce enough, or none at all, of the essential energies to maintain a proper balance of physical, mental and emotional well-being and must, therefore, turn to outside sources to attain these energies. These sources range from blood to psychic energy to empathic energy to elemental energy to the ambient negative energy present every day to eclectic mixes of any of the above sources.
Definition: Is a person who has an additional feeding need, required for maintain an adequate general well-being state on a physical, mental, and spiritual level. A real vampire adds to the normal feeding in any human being an extra feeding, consisting in blood or subtle energy, which can be taken from several sources. This need is structural to the real vampire condition and permanent, a person with this condition needs to feed continuously in this special way to sustain its well-being state, because for some reason still unknown it´s impossible for them to obtain and keep it as an ordinary person would do. The need for an additional nutrition is what makes different a real vampire from a person who is not.
